Nick Blake / Pulse at Skylight
ProductPulse is a utilization management tool used by both individual contributors and company leadership at Skylight, a technology consultancy.
ProblemIn 2021, Skylight doubled in size but was losing 500+ unbilled hours monthly due to poor methods of managing and surfacing utilization insights.
OpportunityA centralized platform can give leadership with oversight and help individual contributors stay on track, leading to higher billable hours and increased revenue for the consultancy.
OutcomesEmbedded into daily workflows, Pulse drove a 12% increase in billable client hours, unlocking $240K in revenue within the first year, and cut leadership reporting time by 75% (from over an hour to under 15 minutes per pay period).
Timeline2021 - 2022
Role As a product designer, I shaped the product from concept to launch. I worked directly with the C‑suite to ensure the interface reflected company policy, led research and testing across user roles, and collaborated with engineers to integrate QuickBooks data seamlessly.
